New Zealand-born, Sydney-based pianist Aaron Blakey returns with a stellar band to Foundry616 bringing the formidable quintet line-up featuring two tenor saxophone legends; Mike Rivett and Mike Avgenicos! The group will be presenting a variety of original music written by Aaron; influenced from his times living in New Zealand, Japan and Australia. As well as a few choice jazz standards.
Aaron has just released some singles on Spotify which will also be performed by the quintet.
Since hitting the Sydney jazz scene in 2011 after a three year stint working in Japan as an active pianist on the Tokyo Jazz Scene, Aaron has made a name for himself as a soloist performing with the likes of Mike Rivett, Hamish Stuart, Jonathan Zwartz, Darren Percival, and many more wonderful Australian musicians.
Over the years, Aaron has also had the opportunity to further his study of jazz with Mike Nock, as well as international artists including Aaron Goldberg, Danny Grissett and Kevin Hays.
